Mobility Research Center
One of A Kind
The Kettering University GM Mobility Research Center, an autonomous vehicle testing track, is the only one of its kind on a college campus in the country. The outdoor lab space and proving ground enhances faculty, student, and industry research and development of autonomous vehicles, vehicle safety standards, hybrid, and electric vehicle technologies, among other uses. The track features an S-curve, elevation, surface changes, and straightaways and is available for year-round, 24-hour testing.
Kettering University GM Mobility Research Center is a recipient of PlanetM research grant to help startup companies use the MRC for testing.

Facility Components And Test Pad
The 21-acre Mobility Research Center is a state-of-the-art proving ground that includes a 3.25-acre customizable all-weather test pad built to race track performance specifications with low-speed handling loops, elevation and surface change with diverse testing environments and fully customizable with straightaway distances of up to 500-ft.

15 foot wide oval course, S-curves, elevation and surface changes and straightaways. Ideal for V2V and V2I testing.

Vehicle Support And Research Flexibility
The Harris Mobility Research annex is a 3,000 sq. ft facility with secured and private spaces for prototype development. The Research Annex is temperature controlled with a single drive-thru bay and a heavy duty two-post vehicle lift.
The facility includes Level-II EV charging options and supports various fuel sources, including gasoline, propane, natural gas, and hydrogen.
